Jack Owen Boarman
Willy Bermudez is a dedicated and highly motivated senior designer with more than 20 years of experience in single and multi-family residential design as well as retail interiors. He has focused his career on new construction, renovation, and expansion. He also has significant experience in the planning of complex large-scale residential, student housing, hotel, and mixed-use projects. Willy is a valued leader at BKV Group and is known for his contemporary design aesthetic, attention to detail, and collaborative approach to leadership.
Bill Ljungquist has more than 30 years of experience in mechanical systems design. He brings seniority, extensive experience, and proactive design approach to the mechanical engineering discipline of BKV Group. His experience includes work in housing, retail, hospitality, commercial, healthcare, higher education, and government projects. Bill has also been at the forefront of energy efficient design for the majority of his career.
As the Director of Architecture and Associate Partner in our Washington, DC. office, Paul Andresino leverages his 30 years of experience in delivering projects, and mentoring and managing staff. By assisting the DC office in executing our architectural language and processes, enacting new quality control measures, and spearheading professional development initiatives, Paul ensures the office’s compliance with complex project deliverables, schedules, and budgets. Through his work, Paul has built a thorough understanding of the technical and regulatory side of the architectural profession in Washington. This allows him to holistically lead a project from start to finish. With every project he undertakes, Paul wants the client to know that he has the project’s best interest at the forefront, and they can trust him and his team members to get the job done right. By maintaining consistency of communication with all architectural staff, Paul ensures there is an abundance of cross-mentorship and cross-pollination of ideas to further grow our Washington, D.C. personnel and portfolio.
David has been involved in the Senior Living sector since 1999, and has been at the forefront of industry discussions through his affiliations with the AIA Design for Aging Knowledge Community, Environments for Aging (EFA) Conference, and the American Seniors Housing Association (ASHA). Throughout his career, David has developed an astute understanding of the evolving global trends amongst seniors, and he has applied innovative principles to a range of communities, including independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care facilities across the country. Additionally, David has successfully managed the planning and design of retirement communities, affordable housing for senior living developments, and multifamily residential projects. He’s also consulted as an Owner’s representative during the construction of two Life Plan Communities, and with the aging process being universal, David has consistently been invited to give educational lectures nationally and internationally.
Brian Cornell is a professionally licensed structural engineer and LEED accredited professional with 16 years experience in building design and construction. His responsibilities include meeting with clients to review engineering needs and providing solutions. He analyzes design requirements, specifications and performance requirements to determine best and most appropriate designs.
Jim Hansing has more than 25 years of experience in architecture, construction administration, and project management on base building and interior construction projects. His project experience is primarily in housing, office, education, and government building types. He has a demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of project design and documentation from schematic design to project closeout.
Kobita is a creative designer with over 20 years of experience leading the design team to achieve award-winning residential, hospitality, and workplace projects nationally. By interpreting client aspirations and turning them into creative solutions, Kobita delivers high-quality products while adhering to tight deadlines and budget constraints. In overseeing a team of design professionals, Kobita is responsible for the management and implementation of design concepts through completion, seamlessly balancing multiple concurrent projects. Kobita is adept at all phases of design, documentation, and construction processes, and has in-depth knowledge of detailing, materials, methods, and codes, project schedules, and budget. Kobita provides inspiration and mentorship to her design teams, and creates a strong design culture that encourages professional growth, collaboration, and design exploration.
John Treiber has experience in design and project management of multiple project types including mixed-use and build-to-suit commercial, residential, and retail renovations and new construction. John’s role involves working closely with clients, often involving multiple stakeholders to understand their mission and unique project requirements, and developing architectural solutions that enhance their operational goals.
Kanar is a detail-oriented and analytical professional engineer with 20+ years’ experience in electrical engineering. She is proficient in supporting the project management and data analysis needs of high-growth organizations and their clientele. Kanar has proven her leadership expertise in electrical engineering, back-up power systems design, electrical planning, and technical reviews. Kanar is effective at building strong interpersonal relationships with stakeholders, clients, contractors, and government organizations. She is currently a Certified Fairfax County Peer Reviewer, Virginia Electrical Plan Examiner, and a International Code Consul Electrical (ICC) Plan Examiner.
Driven by the power of collaboration, Garick Malcom has over 19 years of experience providing business development and marketing for architecture firms ranging from 20 to 600+ staff members. His background includes pursuing award-winning commercial office and multifamily real estate projects in the mid-Atlantic region. He exceeds in identifying hidden potential and promoting his talented team’s ability to create value through design innovation. Garick is an active member of Washington DC Urban Land Institute (ULI) and Northern Virginia National Association Industrial & Office Properties (NAIOP), serving on multiple committees and planning groups. Garick spends his spare time coaching little league baseball and diligently working on seemingly endless home renovations.
